The Rooftop Terrace
Overview
The Rooftop Terrace, perched on the roof of the historic Operations Building, is a must-see exhibit included with your general admission ticket. Serving as the perfect starting point for your visit, it provides a deep sense of place, painting a clear picture of Ford Island before and during the surprise attack on December 7, 1941.
This immersive experience offers panoramic views of Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum’s campus and its surroundings. Detailed plaques highlight key locations surrounding the Rooftop Terrace and their roles during the attack, while viewfinders bring the landscape and distant landmarks into sharp focus. The Rooftop Terrace also serves as a precursor to the Tower View Experience, where visitors can go up to the top of the Ford Island Control Tower and understand Pearl Harbor from above. The views reveal the aerial battlefield – the perspective that completes the story of December 7 and helps you see exactly how events unfolded. Also available is the Top of the Tower Tour, an exclusive guided tour delving deeper into the events and stories of that fateful day.
