On the afternoon of June 4th three Japanese Aircraft carriers were heavily damaged. Planes from the IJN Hiryu were launching to attack U.S. Aircraft Carriers. The USS Yorktown was struck and damaged by torpedoes from Nakajima B5N torpedo bombers. The Hiryu, which launched the IJN aircraft, was then attacked and set ablaze by SBD Dauntless Dive Bombers.
This is just a snap shot of this turning-point battle in the pacific. You can learn about this conflict, and the aircraft that were there, at our Museum.
