Title: Facility Technician

Classification: Full-Time; Non-Exempt/hourly

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Job Summary:

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum Facility Technician are more than just work staff. We maintain, preserve and upkeep historical buildings and spaces. Our hangars, iconic tower and facilities are themselves exhibits that we share with the local and international community. We take great pride in presenting the museum to the public. We are continuing to expand our grounds and exhibits and are looking for staff that want to be a part of something bigger. Custodial duties are a part of the position. However, there are many duties we need help with to keep the museum running. This place matters. Position reports to Facilities Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Meets quality standards, safety rules, and customer service objectives by performing janitorial and cleaning operations within designated areas and shifts.
  • Utilizes protective gear for relevant tasks.
  • Facility Technician must complete assigned cleaning areas on time and in accordance with schedules.
  • Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and faults to supervisor promptly.
  • The Facility Technician is responsible for dust and damp mopping floors in various areas, including entryways, corridors, classrooms, cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, and auditoriums. They also ensure proper cleaning solution mixing and use, and follow all safety precautions.
  • Sanitizes and cleans restrooms, including sinks, floors, and commodes.
  • Responsible for daily operations
  • Empties wastebaskets, and removes graffiti as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness by cleaning water fountains, disinfecting floors, walls, and toilet bowls, polishing fixtures and mirrors, and replenishing supplies like tissues, towels, and soap.
  • Demonstrates acceptable interactions with facility staff, supervisors, managers and the general public.
  • Responds to client requests and follows industry, federal, and state guidelines.
  • Responds to the paging system promptly and appropriately.
  • Adheres to infection control and universal precautions regulations to maintain a clean atmosphere at all times.
  • Use correct reporting, isolation, and handwashing protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior school/facility custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates effective collaboration and teamwork with coworkers and facilities staff.
  • Ability to conduct repeated tasks on a consistent basis.
  • After training, must be able to execute all responsibilities without supervision and without causing harm to themselves or others.
  • Must be reliable to be on time for scheduled work.
  • Able to stand or walk for 6-8 hours each day.
  • Indoors/Outdoors, Sunshine/Rain, Day/Night.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for lengthy periods of time.
  • Ability to handle food and cleaning materials.
  • Ability to understand and finish all in-services.
  • Reside in service area. There are no moving expenses.
  • Adhere to COVID-19 vaccination policies as needed by state, local, and/or customers.
  • Thrive in a team environment while striving to meet organizational, team and personal goals.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, have good communication skills and the ability to positively interact with guests, museum staff, contractors, inspectors and military personnel.

Physical Demands

This position routinely requires standing, walking, holding/carrying, reaching, twisting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, kneeling/squatting, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders. Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Compensation:

From $17.00 hourly, commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies
