Title: Cafe Supervisor

Reports to: Café/Restaurant Manager

Preferred:  2 yrs Café/Restaurant Supervisor Experience

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Job Summary:

The Café Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the managing and the daily operations of our restaurant, including the selection, development and performance management of employees. In addition, they assist with inventory and ordering of food and supplies, optimize profits and ensure that guests are satisfied with their dining experience. The Supervisor reports to the Café/Restaurant Manager.

Food safety and planning

  • Enforces sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensures compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
  • Maintains professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Estimates food and beverage costs. Works with Corporate office staff for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies. Supervises portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  • Estimates food needs, places orders with distributors, and schedules the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
  • Must be ServSafe certified.
  • Will uphold all ServSafe guidelines.

FINANCIAL

  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company
  • Ensures a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Manages shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
  • Maintains Master Book and Work Orders for catering orders and pre-orders
  • Investigates and resolves complaints concerning food quality and service
  • Provides meals ordered through contracts with agencies (IE: Hoku, Poly Ad, etc.)
  • Provides meals as ordered through other departments (IE: education, development, etc.)
  • Supports public programs as necessary

personnel

  • Provides direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues
  • Assists with hiring of hourly employees. Direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary performance counseling, termination of employees
  • Conducts orientation, and oversees the training of new employees
  • Develops employees by providing ongoing feedback/coaching, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews

Guest Service

Ensures positive guest service in all areas. Responds to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.

Physical Demands

This position routinely requires standing, walking, holding/carrying, reaching, twisting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, kneeling/squatting, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders.  Ability to lift 25 lbs on a regular basis.

Compensation:

Range starting at $18.00 hourly, commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies
