Title: Museum Store Sales Associate – Part-time Position
Reports to: Sr. Store Manager & Buyer
Department: Museum Store – Marketing
Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly. Part-time.
Expected Hours: 20 – 34 hrs weekly
Pay: $17 per hour
Job Summary:
The Sales Associate is responsible for operations of the Museum Store as directed by the Sr. Store Manager & Buyer and Assistant Store Manager. As a front-line staff member, the Sales Associate provides the highest level of customer service to guests of Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. The focus of this position is responsible for all activities associated with the Museum Store “front-end duties,” which includes cashiering & cash handling, inventory management & security, stocking merchandise, and ensuring store cleanliness. The Store Sales Associate works in the main store, as well as any other event stores or pop-up stores on the Museum campus, as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides a warm welcome to each guest as they enter Museum Store
- Aids guests as needed: ringing a sales transaction, providing directions and museum information to enhance their experience
- Rings in sales accurately; applying applicable discounts accordingly and correctly handle cash and credit card transactions.
- (Re)Stocks merchandise as directed by Sr. Store Manager & Buyer and Asst. Store Manager; keeps the work space and Museum Store clean, orderly, stocked, and safe
- Supports the Asst. Store Manager in shipping and receiving inventory
- Monitors inventory levels of merchandise to promote sales/promotions for in store or online.
- Guides staff in sales training/lessons/tactics to promote sales of all varieties to all customers.
- Supports Store leadership in the training of any new team members.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Sr. Store Manager & Buyer and Director of Marketing

- Demonstrated experience cash handling; familiarity with point of sales systems

Required Qualifications:
- Must successfully meet all pre-employment requirements to include passing drug testing and federal background check(s)
- High school diploma or GED
- Maintain a well-groomed and professional demeanor
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six months of customer service experience
- Prior sales experience at an attraction, museum or nonprofit
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, pull, push 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Work Environment and Schedule:
- Part-Time – Hourly; approximately 24-36 hrs. a week (will vary based on needs)
- The Museum is a seven-day week facility; must be available to work weekends, holidays and some evenings with prior notice.
