On Thursday Dec. 8 at 11:30 a.m. HST, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum will host Charlie “Sid” Gillman and his presentation sharing his findings and research on the Nakajima B5N “Kate” Bomber.
Charlie “Sid” Gillman, former Navy aviator and retired Capt. shares his findings and research on the Nakajima B5N “Kate” Bomber, one of the three Japanese aircraft used in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. His presentation will address the myths and Hollywood-like mindset of the Kate and its torpedo. He will cover a number of topics surrounding the Kate and her torpedo – what was her mission, how was the torpedo used, how did the three-man crew communicate to each other. He’ll take us into the cockpit and in the mind of the pilot and his crew. With over four years of research and collaboration with a number of notable authors, J. Michael Wenger, John DiVirgillio, Robert Cressman and Tagaya Osamu, Gillman is proud to present the findings and share with our Museum community.
